Stockholms Bränneri Pink Gin

Flavor Profile

Gin Flavor Visualization for

There’s two types of pink gins out there. The first are vividly colored, and rife with artificial flavoring. The second are delicate, pastel gins where the “pink” is the result of delicate infusions. Stockholms Bränneri Pink Gin is one of the latter.

Starting from their base gin, distilled from wheat, Stockholms Bränneri infuses rhubarb, rose and lingonberry to achieve its distinctive pink hue.

We’re reviewing Batch 7 of Stockholms Bränneri Pink Gin.

Tasting notes

Color: Very pale carnation hue. It’s barely pink and once mixed, you might not even notice the pink hue.

Aroma: Dusky rose from the infusion comes across strongly on the nose. The gin underneath adds a lot of character as well, with additional floral hints of distilled elderflowers, mild juniper, citrus and coriander.

Flavor: Early, sweet orange citrus and a hint of black peppercorn spice peak through. However, mid-palate is brightly dominant with floral notes. Again, distilled elderflower is the primary flavor I get, but you’re starting to taste some of those macerated botanicals come through.

The lingonberry and rose combine to give an impression of dry strawberry, while the tartness of fresh rhubarb becomes dominant late on the palate lending Stockholms Bränneri Pink Gin a slight mouth puckering astringency.

Finish: Tart, with macerated botanicals dominating. Rhubarb primarily, but a breathy rose, delivers a musky, complex hazy finish.

Cocktails and suggested serves

Stockholms Bränneri Pink Gin works well in many traditional gin cocktails, especially a quite dry Martini. I recommend it served with a lemon twist.

Further, it works well with dry tonic waters as well. Try it in a gin and tonic with Fever Tree or Q tonic. Garnish it with a rose petal or pink peppercorn.

Overall, Stockholms Bränneri Pink Gin

The combination of rhubarb and rose, plus the novel addition of lingonberry, combines to make Stockholms Bränneri Pink Gin a unique, distinctively Swedish and ultimately delicious pink gin. It mixes well and is best treated as a gin (i.e. non-pink) in cocktail crafting. The floral notes will ultimately come through giving an impression of a floral-forward gin rather than a pink gin.

Stockholms Bränneri Pink Gin is among the best pink gins on the market today and its flavor will appeal to fans of floral contemporary gin.

Highly recommended in its category.
