Park City, Utah–based Alpine Distilling uses an entirely vapor-based distillation process to create their Elevated Gin. It begins with a corn-based spirit and builds on a list of carefully sourced, classic-style botanicals.
Tasting notes
Aroma: Citrus-leaning on the nose, with lemon zest jumping from the glass. Pine-forward juniper rounds things out with hints of pepper and cardamom. Elevated Gin is pleasantly classic, with just a touch of cardamom bun and dried lemon peel to give it a distinctive profile.
Flavor: Elevated Gin leans into the cardamom on the palate, with ginger and coriander coming together to create a sweet, Indian-spice character—some may be reminded of chai tea here.
However, it’s more complex than a single note.
Early on, warm cardamom merges with bitter orange zest, lemon curd, and peppercorn. There is a background note reminiscent of tonka bean. Earthy juniper builds toward the back of the palate with a glowing warmth similar to freshly cracked Tellicherry peppercorn.
Finish: The earthiness of ginger balances with a dark, piney hint of juniper and an almost pithy lemon rind. Elevated Gin has a gentle warmth that never reads as hot—rather, it’s the prolonged glow of juniper, ginger, and cardamom lingering in the back of the throat.
Cocktails and suggested serves
Elevated Gin is not an imitation of other classic-style gins—though its “traditional with a bit of cardamom” approach lends itself well to mixing behind the bar. Bartenders can use Elevated Gin in a wide range of cocktails and be confident it will perform consistently.
Some highlights for me include the Gimlet—where the spice complements the drink beautifully—and the Martini (twist or olive). The Gibson isn’t a winner for me, but I admit I haven’t quite warmed to pickled onion and cardamom together.
It’s also excellent in a gin and tonic, with enough character to carry a gin and soda as well.
In short, Elevated Gin is a versatile mixer, with its 45% ABV and balanced flavor profile.
Overall, Elevated Gin
Elevated Gin is a well made gin that will work well behind the bar and in home cocktail craft. It’s versatile and has a great flavor profile that will appeal to fans of both classic style and contemporary spice led gins.
