Campari Sour recipe
1½ oz. Classic style gin
¾ oz. Fresh squeezed lemon juice
½ oz. Campari
2 dashes of Angostura bitters
2 dashes of Citrus bitters
½ egg white (or 1 egg white for two cocktails).
Dry shake egg white. Next, add all ingredients and dry shake. Finally, add ice and shake. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a couple dashes of Angostura bitters on the top.
Gin recommendations
When I was experimenting with this recipe, I used Family Jones Spirit House’s Juniper Jones Gin. That gin provides a bright juniper forward profile with supporting hints of dill and bitter orange.
A classic style gin here with a higher strength (I think 47% is a nice baseline) will work well. Anything lower strength tends to let the sweet/sour overwhelm. The balance from the gin is quite essential here.
