Schweppes Bitter Lemon Tonic Water

Schweppes Bitter Lemon Tonic Water Bottle

Schweppes is perhaps best known for making widely available tonic waters in both Europe and the United States. Schweppes Bitter Lemon Tonic Water is their American “bitter lemon” and following others in the space like Fever Tree, rather than branding it as a “bitter lemon” they’ve chosen the more accessible “lemon tonic water.”

Tasting Notes

Pleasant effervescence with relatively tight bubbles. Pleasant light lemon zest nose.

Sipped, the bubbles are tight and concentrated near the front of the palate. Sweet lemon oil mid-palate. Clean and bright, it’s also very literally lemon.

The bitterness comes on late. It’s mild and less intense than even in their standard American market tonic water.

Overall, Schweppes Bitter Lemon

People who don’t like it may find the lemon a bit too close to “lemon cleaner.” However, that is true of many bitter lemons in this space as they often use citric acid and natural lemon flavors to achieve the lemon flavor.

That being said? Within the American bitter lemon tonic water space, Schweppes Bitter Lemon is among the best out there.

  1. Can you tell me exactly where I may purchase Schweppes Bitter Lemon Tonic Water please. I live in North San Diego County, California. I dearly miss the old Schweppes Bitter Lemon.
