In 2018, we expanded the scope of what we review to include gin’s botanical spirit sister— Aquavit. Both are made in very similar fashions and there is a lot of overlap between the two, in terms of use and audience.
We keep our aquavit reviews in their own separate location. However, we encourage fans of contemporary spice forward gins to take a peak.
Tonic Waters
Since our founding in 2009, we’ve reviewed tonic waters. At the time, Gin and Tonic was the most common drink that our readers said they made with gin.
Though the gin community today is harder to describe with such a sweeping generalization, we still maintain our commitment to review and cover tonic waters and tonic syrups. We pair them with gin and review them as a mixer.
Canned Cocktails (or RTDs)
RTD, or “ready to drink” cocktails have expanded beyond their European roots and are now broadly available around the world.
Though we’d always covered a ready-to-drink gin cocktail where we could, they’ve now become so common that we have an entire page devoted to them as their own category.
