Gin recommendations
The Cloister Cocktail is reminiscent of an Alaska Cocktail— with a lot more citrus and a touch more sweetness. It works well with a wide range of gins, though I slightly prefer classic and juniepr forward here. Try Alfred the Great Gin, Highclere Castle Gin or Sipsmith VJOP.
History of the Cloister Cocktail
While the ingredients suggest an earlier origin, the Cloister Cocktail dates back to the 1970’s Playboy Bartender’s Guide.
