Gifts for people who love gin 2018

Every holiday season I try to highlight some of the best gifts for the gin-lover in your life with our Gin Lovers Gift Guide. If you are looking for gifts for people who love gin— we’ve got you covered.

Gifts for people who love gin and reading—

There’s never a dearth of fantastic books available for the gin-lover in your life. David T. Smith’s The Gin Dictionary is among my personal favorites from 2018.

But there’s several other excellent books for folks who love gin. There’s a lot of buzz around botanicals and botanical spirits— Amy Stewart’s (now) classic The Drunken Botanist is an elegant garden dictionary style exploration of the botanicals we love to drink. My 2015 award winning book on gin is now out in German.

Or for something decidedly less-academic that will appeal to even the casual gin fan, Tim Federle’s tongue-in-cheek Hollywood Cocktail volume Gone With the Gin isn’t only a good pun— but it’s a fun casual cocktail book as well. Stuff the stockings of your UK family members with the quirky collection that affirms what we all know— Gin IS good for you.

Gifts for people who love gin and DIY—

There’s a ton of these make your own gin at home kits. All of them are based around a simple concept. By a high quality vodka; macerate some botanicals and boom— gin. We’ve reviewed many in the past, and they make an easy DIY project for the gin-lover in your life.

For the DIY-er who has graduated and is now experimenting with making their own essential oils at home. There’s some great books to help your get started and plenty of accessible kits to help your loved ones get started.

Gifts for people who love to smell like gin—

Among the more accessible “gin and tonic” perfumes are from Tokyomilk (designed with women in mind) and Demeter (unisex in design).

If you’re looking for something a bit more unique and bespoke (and less literal)— Dasein’s Winter Night is gorgeous and gently coniferous.

And if perfume is a bit too heavy-handed, there’s always things like Bath and Body Works Silver Gin Fizz hand soap. Or Bath soap. Or Lip Balm.

Gifts for people who love gin and only gin—

Just released from Tanqueray at is their Flor de Sevilla which is made with bitter Seville Oranges. If Orange isn’t their cup of tea, how about Malfy’s grapefruit for grapefruit lovers. Sipsmith’s Lemon Drizzle for lemon aficionados. There’s Finger Lime Gin from that Boutique-y Gin Company.

If you’re going dry for January— that doesn’t mean you have to give up the G&T. Swap out Gin for some of Seedlip’s distilled non-alcoholic spirits. I love the English pea in their garden 108.

Or buy their gift a bit early and give them an Advent Calendar so they can appreciate your gin gift throughout the entire month.
